Emile Klep has been Director of Urban Design at the Urban Development cluster of the municipality of Rotterdam since 1 July 2015. Urban Design comprises the departments Space and Housing, Traffic and Transport, Permits and Supervision of Buildings.
From 2009 to 2015 he was employed by Woonstad as Director of the North East region (120 employees). In this position he was responsible for letting and managing more than 17,000 rental units in Rotterdam.
Before Emile Klep moved to Woonstad he carried out assignments for housing corporations and social organizations, including the Katendrecht area development and the Pact op Zuid. He also supervised the merger of De Nieuwe Unie and Woningbedijf Rotterdam into Woonstad Rotterdam.
From 2004 to 2006 he was a councilman in the neighborhood Feijenoord. In Feijenoord he was the portfolio holder of Spatial Planning, Housing, Traffic and Transport and District Economy / SME’s. In that role, he was involved in, among other things, restructuring, affordable senior housing and community amenities.
